2020 saw many great challenges for people. It also meant changing how we do things to keep in touch with each other. Many people embraced digital technology to connect with loved ones and to be able to work from home via Zoom, Skype, Microsoft Teams, and many other types of video chat platforms.
We had over 50 zoom meetings with our Parkinson’s community in 2020 and it was wonderful to see so many of you connect with us. Whether it was for a chat zoom with our Infoline Nurses and Counsellors, a carer chat, a Young Onset chat, a Support Group Leadership Team meeting, a Post DBS meeting, or whether you joined one of our co-hosted zooms with Carers NSW, Continence Foundation, COTA, or Independent Living Specialists, it was really great to see so many of you join in.
Quite a few Support Groups had their own regular zoom catch ups to replace their face-to-face meetings during the year. Your group may decide that you want to continue to do this into 2021 or adopt a mixed approach to connecting and meeting.
Parkinson’s NSW will be continuing a program of zoom meetings this year, much the same as we had in 2020 and will publish the meeting details in InTouch, so keep your eyes peeled for the upcoming zoom meeting information. We look forward to seeing you there.
If you haven’t joined zoom before, give it a go, it’s great fun! You can find tutorials on how to zoom via our Support Groups Information web page Support Group Info & Support and click on ‘how to stay in touch via video’ to find out more.
